IKO Fortified Roofing Update

GOAL OF CLASS:  Students will learn product information about IKO Nordic performance laminate shingles and compared to other roofing shingles available in the industry.  They will learn about the engineering of products, protection of various shingles and their benefits associated with wind uplift and water penetration.      

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course will explain and illustrate the enhanced application techniques that are required to qualify an asphalt shingle roof application for FORTIFIED Roof status. The course will explore some of the reasons why the FORTIFIED program was created as an initiative out of the Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS). The aspects of FORTIFIED that are “Code Plus” relative to Chapter 9 of the International Residential Code (IRC) will be discussed. Some of the content in this presentation will include materials, application and ongoing research, dialogue with manufacturers and information from industry organizations and forums.
