The Louisiana Department of Insurance works to improve competition in the state’s insurance market while assisting individuals and businesses to become informed consumers of insurance. As a regulator, the LDI enforces the laws that provide a fair and stable marketplace and makes certain that insurers comply with the laws in place to protect policyholders.

THE IRC CODE UPDATE - SUMMARY CLASS will focus on the newly adopted changes to the residential code. The first will hour will review the significant changes to the International Residential Code as well as amendments to the code made by Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code Council. These changes became effective on January 1st, 2023. The second half will give an overview of the 2021 Residential Energy Code which will go into effect on July 1st, 2023. The class will focus on both the prescriptive and performance paths of compliance.
INSTRUCTOR INFORMATION:
INDOOR AIR QUALITY: Pablo Maique, Jr. is a Certified Indoor Air Environmentalist (CIE) who in the past owned an air conditioning (A/C) company until 2004 when he opened Indoor Air Quality Services, Inc. located in Metairie, LA. Currently, he continues to serve as President and Owner of Indoor Air Quality Services, Inc. (dba/IAQ Services) and is dedicated to the indoor air quality industry full time.Mr. Maique has been in the A/C and indoor air quality industries for over 40 years holding many past and present certifications/licenses to include electrical and plumbing. His current certifications and licenses are: Certified Indoor Environmentalist (CIE), Mold Remediation Contractor (CMR), Ventilation System Mold Remediator (VSMR), Air System Cleaning Specialist (ASCS) AND, He also holds a Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification.
KNOW YOUR INSURANCE:
Blake Steiner is a Certified Building Official with the South Central Planning and Development Commission serving as the Chief Building Official for Baton Rouge. Blake has 19 years of experience in the construction industry including 10 years practicing as a licensed residential contractor. Blake is actively involved in code development at both the state and national level and serves as the legislative chair for the Building Official Association of Louisiana. Most recently, Blake was the Louisiana Home Builders Association’s appointee for the 2021 energy code transition committee, is the former president of Home Builders Association of Central Louisiana and served on the LHBA Executive Committee.
RON WILLIAMS & KATHLEEN DEAN
Ron Williams has been with the Louisiana Department of Insurance for twelve years in the Office of Consumer Advocacy & Diversity, and The Office of Licensing. Prior to the Department of Insurance, his career spans over 54 years in banking, insurance, real estate, economic development, consulting, and the SBA Market.
Kathleen Dean has been with the Louisiana Department of Insurance for the last 7 years as a regulator before joining the Office of Consumer Advocacy. Previously, she worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan for 14yrs.
