The HBA offers many continuing education courses each year. To register for any of the following classes or for more information, click on the class title. Remember, we are constantly updating and improving our website to ensure you get the most timely information! If you have any problems, please call the HBA office at 504.837.2700

There are 6 main types of classes offered by the HBA, which are distinguished in the table below by the following:
CE : 1-6 hour classes offered for those licensed contractors seeking to fulfill their 6-hour requirement with the state licensing board.
PD : Professional Designation Classes. For more on professional designations, see descriptions below.
RRP : Certified Renovator Training. Required by the EPA Lead: RRP Rule for contractors doing renovation work on pre-1978 housing
MFC : Education specifically for those in the Multifamily industry.

  • All payment will be due prior to class.
  • Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made within 24 hours of class will not be refunded, with the exception of professional designation classes, where at least 72 hours notice is required. No-shows will also be billed for any education class. (Please note: This may vary with different classes, depending on the arrangements with instructor.)
  • HBAGNO agrees to offer, at a minimum, enough free continuing education per year to meet the requirement set by the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors.
  • Professional Designation Classes: HBA members who have completed an NAHB Professional Designation course may retake that course as a “refresher” for a fee of $100. These registrants will NOT receive a copy of course material.

Certified Graduate Builder (CGB) is an exclusive professional designation designed to emphasize business and project management skills as the key to a professional building operation.



The Graduate Master Builder (GMB) takes your education to the next level, honing your skills in the areas of business management, development and finance. This elite program builds on your experience and helps you push your business to the next level, as well as signifying your commitment to excellence to your clients.

 

Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) is an exclusive professional designation designed to emphasize business and project management skills as the key to a professional remodeling operation.  


Certified Graduate Associate (CGA):  Learn about the home building business from the best source possible: builders and remodelers with years of field experience. Earned through classroom instruction, the CGA designation affirms your level of industry knowledge and your commitment to your professionalism in the building industry.


Certified Green Professional (CGP)™, an exclusive designation offered by NAHB, is designed to teach building industry professionals strategies for incorporating green building principles into homes using cost-effective and affordable options. Earning the CGP shows customers your commitment to staying current with industry innovations—including green building.



The Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation program teaches the technical, business management and customer service skills essential to competing in the fastest growing segment of the residential remodeling industry—home modifications for aging in place.


Certified New Home Marketing Professional (CMP) is the mid-level designation for IRM students who have completed the marketing intensive IRM courses I through IV.



The Certified New Home Sales Professional (CSP) designation is the first designation available through The Institute of Residential Marketing. CSP was designed for specialists in new home sales to enhance their professional image, increase their marketability in the home building industry and sell more homes!



Created by NAHB and jointly endorsed by the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), the Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP) is a specialized designation for developers, property managers, asset managers, and others working in the affordable housing industry.


The Member, Institute of Residential Marketing (MIRM) designation is the fourth and most prestigious designation given by the Institute. The MIRM is the top-level achievement for professionals in new home marketing.


Certified Leasing Professional (CLP) is an educational and designation program offered to apartment leasing professionals by the Associated Builders and Owners. The CLP educational curriculum offers the essential skills and information needed to make you an effective leasing professional. The CLP designation signals to the industry that you’ve mastered multifamily leasing and sales skills and are a professional in the property management field.
 


Registered in Apartment Management (RAM) is a comprehensive education and designation program offered to property management professionals by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). The longest running and most well-respected program of its kind, RAM is the credential of distinction for managers of apartments (both market rate and affordable), condominiums, and cooperative housing
 

 
 

 

Delgado Student Chapter

 

The HBA of Greater New Orleans also sponsors an award-winning local student chapter at Delgado Community College. Under the leadership of Professor Victor Mirzai, student chapter members are consistently looking for various internships and jobs with HBA member firms to fullfill their academic requirements and hopefully gain permanent positions upon graduation.
